Alison Wright is an English actress. She is most famous for her leading role as Martha Hanson on the FX period spy drama series The Americans, for which she was praised by critics and received was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2017. She has also acted in The Ryan Murphy limited series Feud: Bette & Joan and Hollywood. Wright was born in Sunderland on July 12, 1976. Her upbringing was influenced by her adoptive family. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She attended school in New York City at The Barrow Group as well as the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. The waitressing gig was cut short with auditions for roles in various parts. When she went scuba diving, one of her passions at the time her heart was in a serious incident which put her in a state of coma. A few days later she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family members, who flew in to be by her side in the hospital. Wright, who was born at Sunderland in Tyne and Wear on July 12th of 1976, was raised by her parents who adopted her. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She was educated at the world-renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute as well as The Barrow Group in New York City.
